Starting Vegetables in a Cold Frame

A few days ago, I planted cipollini onions, my first crop for the coming season.  Based on the remnants of the last snowfall, it would seem that my timing might be a bit early; however I have a simple, inexpensive solution that lets me start vegetables when the weather is less than ideal:  the answer is a cold frame.
